Everything was hiding from me, and

“Why doesn’t God do something?”

Then again, why don’t you?

God, being a Spirit, does not possess the physical faculties to enact His desires. He requires human beings.

On top of being at your whim, He also has corraled Himself with the promise of free will.

That means that if you desire kindness for the world,such a gentleness is possible. If you are in the middle of a snit and wish the whole world to be damned, well…damned it shall be.

You bring flavor.

The casserole has already been made. The mish-mash of human cultures, religions, politics, opinions and feelings has been stirred together.

It is actually rather bland. It needs some flavor.

You can do this. You don’t have to remove any ingredients–just make the existing offering tasty. You can keep flavor in life by seasoning the batch that’s in front of you.

Or you can wait for God to do something:

Maybe a miracle.

How about a further extension of grace?

Wouldn’t a sign–a wonder in the sky–be inspiring?

But then why would you be here? If God was just looking for people to praise and worship Him, He has a heaven full of angels to perform the chore.

You are an agent. You bring illumination to the dark corners of despair. Without such lighting, we begin to believe that everything is dim.

But how can you illuminate unless you’re already “lit up?” And what lights you up?

Joy. And true joy is a combination of being appreciated while also being held responsible.

If you don’t have the authority to change your life, then you probably won’t act with the confidence to make life better.

You are the flavor and the light that express God’s intention. Being in the spiritual realm, He only has intentions.

You are the agent for His intentions, and as an agent, the quality of His company will be determined by your labor.

Never believe for one moment that you do not have authority.

You are the authority.

You are the chance for the next person to believe that there is a God…because you have just proven His intention.

Jonathan Cring

Our story is told from where we begin. For Jonathan Richard Cring, this was music. First he sang songs, played songs and then one day it occurred to him that he might like to write one. He actually wrote two that morning and rather enjoyed it. This opened the door to people recording his music, ending up in Nashville, Tennessee, with a contract. Having read a book, he had an itch to write one. The first one was small. It was called "The Gospel According to Common Sense." But fourteen books later, he has accumulated a considerable journal of his journey and heart. In the process, he had four sons and was godfather to three others. One of these young men wanted to be a filmmaker. Scripts were required, so Papa Cring wrote thirteen screenplays which ended up being produced into independent feature-length films which won awards at twenty-eight film festivals. While perusing websites for his movie career, Jonathan discovered blogs. He decided to write one and called it Jonathots Daily Blog. That was in 2008. Thousands and thousands of entries, which extended to additional blog categories--one called Jonathots, Jr.--pictures with euphemisms, and Words from Dic(tionary)--taking the Webster classic in its alphabetical order, and writing mostly comical essays on each word. Sitting around the table at Christmas time, his children encouraged him to begin a podcast. In 2018, he began one called Good News and Better News. It is a content-filled tongue-in-cheek look at American culture with the contention that life really doesn't suck. Bouncing off what has been done while discovering what is available has created the arc of the career for Jonathan Richard Cring.
