Everything was hiding from me, and

You are part of a family.

Not just the nuclear one that you’ve pulled together through love, affection and procreation.

It is an Earth Family.

Wow, that sounds ethereal, doesn’t it? Bear with me.

You have a Father named God. He’s very busy. He spends a lot of time at work. His work takes Him out of town, or in this case, out of planet.

But through the miracle of communication, He is available to text, Skype and call at any time.

But you have a Mother. She is called Nature. Some folks even call her Science.

She lives on Earth. She is of the Earth. Matter of fact, she explains the Earth.

Without that parental presence, you would begin to believe that you were spiritual and of the heavens, like your Father.

But born of a Mother, you are part of Earth. You honor your Father by loving your Mother. Or is it that you love your Father by honoring your Mother?

Actually, it’s both.

In this family is also an older brother named Jesus. He has a great understanding of both parents. Having spent some time working with the Father, and 33 years learning and growing in wisdom with Mother Earth, he can really whisper great truths into your ear about how to handle the leaders of the household.

Father wants you to come home someday, and Mother is here to help you understand your journey to get there.

Along with Father God, Mother Earth and Brother Jesus are billions of cousins. They’re all related to you.

They have more in common with you than difference.

They are your brothers and sisters.

And amazingly, the more you get to know them–the more you understand them and the more you accept them as part of your household, the more fluid your relationship is with you older brother, your Mother and your Father.

Now, when you begin to believe that you have some sort of a “special” rite of passage, or that the folks around you are really bastards and have no birthright whatsoever, then you are not only obnoxious, but you actually risk being disowned.

It is a wonderful family.

There are those who will try to pick a parent in an attempt to create a Great Divorce, but Mother and Father will never leave each other. You can’t get them to speak an evil work about one another.

So Father loves science, and Mother loves creation.

And Brother Jesus tells us that we can understand spiritual things by comprehending earthly things.

It’s a beautiful system, if you’re willing to join the family.

Or you can lock yourself in a room with a holy book, and kneel in prayer, hoping that you can create a family of your own–separate from this unit.

It is a painful way to live.

You are not alone, which means you’re not more important than anyone else.

Father God, Mother Nature, Brother Jesus and a whole planet of cousins…welcome you.

Jonathan Cring

Our story is told from where we begin. For Jonathan Richard Cring, this was music. First he sang songs, played songs and then one day it occurred to him that he might like to write one. He actually wrote two that morning and rather enjoyed it. This opened the door to people recording his music, ending up in Nashville, Tennessee, with a contract. Having read a book, he had an itch to write one. The first one was small. It was called "The Gospel According to Common Sense." But fourteen books later, he has accumulated a considerable journal of his journey and heart. In the process, he had four sons and was godfather to three others. One of these young men wanted to be a filmmaker. Scripts were required, so Papa Cring wrote thirteen screenplays which ended up being produced into independent feature-length films which won awards at twenty-eight film festivals. While perusing websites for his movie career, Jonathan discovered blogs. He decided to write one and called it Jonathots Daily Blog. That was in 2008. Thousands and thousands of entries, which extended to additional blog categories--one called Jonathots, Jr.--pictures with euphemisms, and Words from Dic(tionary)--taking the Webster classic in its alphabetical order, and writing mostly comical essays on each word. Sitting around the table at Christmas time, his children encouraged him to begin a podcast. In 2018, he began one called Good News and Better News. It is a content-filled tongue-in-cheek look at American culture with the contention that life really doesn't suck. Bouncing off what has been done while discovering what is available has created the arc of the career for Jonathan Richard Cring.
